About travel in time: or on how to hunt a charlatan.

Time travel in literary fiction or in the cinema can be fascinating, because in fiction the stage is not what is important, but what the author wants to convey about the characters, about the world we live in, their existential concerns or about life itself. If, in those fictitious travels in time, there is a good, a bad and an ugly, the thing is done. For example, The Walking Dead was a very bad, extremely bad series until at the end of the Sixth Season and the beginning of the Seventh appeared the character of Negan and the Saviors, then appeared the true conflict that brought the drowsiness out of the spectators.

However, in science, especially in physics, time travel is nothing more than cheap quackery. One can distinguish when a physicist can be considered a serious scientist and when he is simply a charlatan. A charlatan will invariably talk about time travel, Einstein's relativity, gravitational waves, superlight speeds, negative masses, and other bullshit.

Since there is only matter in motion and since Space and Time are nothing more than illusions of the human mind, it is a little difficult to travel in time. For example, time is nothing more than the illusion created in the brain by the movement of matter, and since this motion leaves a mark on the neurons we call memory, then we are aware that there has been a movement before the current movement. Since we remember and we have pictures of when we were children, we no longer fit in a size 32, we have seen the leaves of the trees fall and our favorite dog has died when we were 13, we know that the time has passed. We know that, before the current movement of the matter that we call now, there has been an earlier movement of matter that we call past and that if nothing stops there will be a later movement of matter that we call future and someday the tree of the yard will dry up and also we will die ourselves.

Travel means that there is an origin and a destination, a station of departure and an arrival station and some luggage. In the case of our journey in time, the origin exists as it would be now, but there would not be a destiny in the past because it no longer exists and there would not be a destiny in the future since it does not exist yet, so our time machine neither you can even get out of your starting station in the now. So if the past no longer exists, if the future has not yet come and only exists now, how can we travel to what does not exist? To the past, we cannot return except in our memory and to the future, to which we go inexorably every day, we can only travel in our imagination, as do the authors of science fiction.

So friend reader when you listen to a physicist seriously talk about time travels then you will know that he is just a charlatan. As we have shown in this short article, time travel is the charlatans-hunter of physics and we have not even had to talk about the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
